Recent agricultural data shows that the difference between the projected and actual Kharif sown area has narrowed to just 1.3 percent. This contraction comes at a time when the monsoon has delivered only about 85 percent of the expected rainfall, indicating a 15 percent shortfall from normal levels.
Analysts note that the reduced acreage gap suggests that farmers are managing to sow crops despite the moisture deficit, possibly by relying on irrigation or adopting drought‑resilient practices. However, the rainfall shortfall remains a concern for overall crop health and yield forecasts.
