Kerala Police have alerted citizens about fraudulent hospital-related mobile applications designed to steal OTPs and siphon money through UPI.
Kerala Police have issued a public advisory warning residents about a new wave of cyber fraud involving fake hospital applications. According to the alert, fraudsters are using deceptive mobile apps disguised as legitimate healthcare services to target unsuspecting users.
These fraudulent applications are designed to trick people into sharing sensitive information, particularly One-Time Passwords (OTPs). Once the OTP is obtained, scammers gain access to the victim's UPI-linked accounts and carry out unauthorized transactions.
Authorities have urged citizens to verify the authenticity of any hospital or medical app before downloading it. The police have also advised people not to share OTPs or banking details with anyone and to report suspicious applications immediately.
The advisory comes amid a growing number of digital payment frauds across the state, with cybercriminals increasingly exploiting public trust in healthcare-related services.
