Kerala has appointed former cricketer Swapnil Asnodkar as its new head coach, who has stressed the importance of performing well in all three cricket formats. The appointment comes as the state team prepares for upcoming domestic tournaments.
Kerala Cricket Association announced the appointment of former Indian cricketer Swapnil Asnodkar as the head coach of the state team. Asnodkar, who has represented India in various age-group and senior tours, took over the reins ahead of the domestic season.
In a brief interview, Asnodkar highlighted the need for the Kerala side to excel in all three formats of the game – first‑class, List A and T20. "We need to do well in all three formats," he said, underscoring a balanced approach to training and strategy.
The new coach will guide the team through the Ranji Trophy, Vijay Hazare Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He expressed confidence that a unified preparation plan would help Kerala compete more effectively across the board.
Asnodkar’s appointment follows the resignation of the previous coach, and the Kerala Cricket Association aims to build a more cohesive squad capable of challenging the top teams in India’s domestic circuit.
