Due to an intense heatwave, Kerala authorities have ordered power restrictions from 6:30 pm to 12:30 am today.
Kerala’s electricity department announced that, as temperatures soar to record levels, power supply will be curtailed between 6:30 pm and 12:30 am tonight. The decision comes after the state recorded a prolonged heatwave that has pushed demand for cooling appliances beyond normal limits, straining the grid.
The restriction will affect all districts, with households and commercial establishments expected to experience scheduled outages during the specified window. Officials said the measure is intended to prevent a total system collapse and to ensure that essential services, such as hospitals and water supply, receive uninterrupted power.
Consumers have been advised to shift non‑essential usage to daylight hours and to keep refrigerators and medical equipment on backup power where possible. The Kerala State Electricity Board will monitor the grid continuously and may adjust the curfew if conditions improve or deteriorate further.
