Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan publicly condemned a proposal to carve out parts of Mangaluru from the Palakkad division, calling it unjustified.
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has openly rejected a proposal that seeks to detach certain sections of Mangaluru from the Palakkad division, describing the move as baseless and harmful.
The suggestion, reportedly originating from officials in neighboring Karnataka, aims to redraw administrative boundaries that currently link the coastal city of Mangaluru with the Palakkad region in Kerala.
Vijayan warned that such a realignment would create confusion in governance, disrupt public services and affect the daily lives of residents on both sides of the border.
He called for a dialogue between the two state governments to resolve the issue through established channels rather than unilateral decisions.
As of now, no official response has been recorded from the Karnataka authorities regarding the contested proposal.
