The Karnataka government has approved a Rs 4,000 crore textile policy aimed at drawing Rs 20,000 crore of private investment into the state’s textile sector.
The state cabinet of Karnataka gave the nod to a new textile policy with a financial outlay of Rs 4,000 crore. The scheme is designed to create a conducive environment for manufacturers, exporters and ancillary units operating in the textile value chain.
Under the policy, the government will channel the allocated funds through subsidies, credit support and infrastructure development to modernise existing units and set up new facilities. Officials have set a target of attracting at least Rs 20,000 crore of private capital over the next few years.
State officials expect the influx of investment to boost production capacity, enhance export competitiveness and generate employment across the region, though exact job‑creation figures have not been disclosed.
