The Karnataka Legislative Assembly Speaker inaugurated the Krishi Mela‑2026 at the University of Agricultural Sciences (UAS) in Dharwad today. The event marked the launch of a three‑day agricultural fair aimed at showcasing the latest farming technologies, best practices and market opportunities for the state’s agrarian community.
During the ceremony, the Speaker emphasized the critical role of women in agriculture and called for targeted measures to boost their participation and income. He highlighted that women farmers constitute a substantial portion of Karnataka’s agricultural workforce and deserve greater access to credit, training and extension services.
Organisers said the mela will feature stalls on seed varieties, mechanisation, organic farming and agri‑entrepreneurship, with a special pavilion dedicated to women‑led initiatives. The platform is expected to facilitate knowledge exchange among farmers, researchers and policymakers, reinforcing the state’s commitment to inclusive rural development.
