The Karnataka government has introduced a new DeepTech and minority startup scheme that offers eligible young entrepreneurs funding of up to Rs 1 crore.
Bengaluru, Karnataka – The state government announced a dedicated funding programme aimed at nurturing deep‑technology ventures and businesses owned by minority communities. Under the scheme, eligible founders can receive grants or soft loans totalling up to Rs 1 crore, subject to compliance with predefined milestones.
The initiative is part of Karnataka's broader effort to position itself as a hub for high‑impact innovation. Applicants must be under 35 years of age, have a prototype or proof‑of‑concept, and demonstrate market potential. Preference is given to projects that address sectors such as artificial intelligence, robotics, clean energy, and advanced materials.
The funding will be disbursed through the state's Startup Karnataka portal, with periodic reviews to ensure proper utilisation. Officials said the scheme complements existing incentives like tax rebates and incubation support, creating a comprehensive ecosystem for emerging entrepreneurs.
Industry observers expect the programme to attract a wave of tech‑savvy talent, especially from under‑represented groups, and to boost the state's contribution to India's deep‑tech landscape.
