The Karnataka government has directed an inspection of industries in Yadgir’s Kadechur-Badiyal industrial area after villagers alleged that untreated industrial wastewater was being discharged into open drains that flow into the Bhima River.
The order came after residents of nearby villages raised concerns that factories in the Kadechur-Badiyal zone were letting out untreated effluent into local drains, which eventually reaches the Bhima River. Villagers said the discharge was causing environmental harm and affecting water quality downstream.
Authorities have been asked to examine whether the industries are adhering to pollution control norms and to take appropriate action if violations are found. The inspection will focus on checking the outlets and treatment facilities of the units in the area.
