Karnataka Minister Krishna Byre Cautions Bengaluru Civic Staff Over Absenteeism

Minister Krishna Byre, who oversees urban development in Karnataka, addressed Bengaluru's civic workforce on Thursday, warning that repeated absenteeism would disrupt essential city services and could lead to disciplinary measures. He stressed that each missed shift directly impacts residents who rely on timely waste collection, street cleaning and maintenance.
Byre cited recent instances where workers failed to report for duty during peak cleaning periods, causing litter buildup and public inconvenience. He urged staff to follow the prescribed duty rosters and to submit legitimate leave applications through the proper channels.
The minister announced that the municipal corporation will tighten attendance monitoring and enforce existing rules more rigorously. He appealed to employees to cooperate fully, noting that reliable attendance is crucial for the government's broader urban improvement agenda.
Byre concluded by reminding the workforce that their punctuality reflects the administration's commitment to a cleaner, more livable Bengaluru, and that any lapse undermines public trust.
