The Karnataka High Court has directed the State Election Commission to proceed with the scheduled panchayat elections after the state confirmed that ward boundaries and reservation quotas are finalized.

The Karnataka High Court, sitting as a bench, issued an order directing the State Election Commission (SEC) to move forward with the pending panchayat elections.
The court’s directive follows a statement from the state government that the process of forming electoral wards and allocating reservation seats for scheduled castes, scheduled tribes and women has been completed.
With these procedural requirements satisfied, the High Court observed that there is no legal basis to postpone the local body polls and instructed the SEC to schedule and conduct them in accordance with the electoral calendar.
The ruling paves the way for the grassroots elections slated for later this year, which will determine the composition of village and taluk level governing bodies across Karnataka.
