Karnataka govt mulls ‘Karnataka Mandapam’ modelled on Delhi’s Bharat Mandapam, says CM Shivakumar

Chief Minister Shivakumar announced that Karnataka is evaluating a ‘Karnataka Mandapam’ modeled after the Bharat Mandapam in Delhi.
The Karnataka state government is studying the feasibility of a multi‑purpose exhibition and convention centre, tentatively named “Karnataka Mandapam”, modeled on Delhi’s Bharat Mandapam.
Chief Minister Shivakumar disclosed the proposal during a press briefing in Bengaluru, saying the facility would host trade fairs, cultural events and international conferences, thereby strengthening the state’s tourism and business ecosystem.
Officials said the plan will involve land allocation, funding mechanisms and possible public‑private partnership models, though detailed cost estimates and timelines have not yet been released. The government will consult industry stakeholders before finalising the blueprint.
If approved, the Karnataka Mandapam could complement existing venues such as the Bengaluru International Exhibition Centre and position the state as a hub for large‑scale events in South India.
