Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar reiterated the state government's commitment to develop multiple satellite towns as alternatives to Bengaluru, aiming to curb urban congestion and spur balanced regional growth.
Karnataka's Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar said the state will accelerate the creation of several new cities around Bengaluru to address the capital's mounting infrastructure strain. He highlighted ongoing projects in areas such as Devanahalli, Hoskote and Nelamangala, describing them as "future growth poles" that will attract industry and housing.
Shivakumar emphasized that a multi‑city approach will reduce traffic congestion, lower real‑estate pressure and generate employment opportunities across the region. He urged private investors and developers to partner with the government in building world‑class amenities, transport links and sustainable housing.
The minister also noted that the state is allocating additional budgetary resources and fast‑tracking land‑acquisition processes to ensure timely completion of these satellite towns. He assured citizens that the new cities will be equipped with modern civic infrastructure, schools and hospitals, aiming to create livable alternatives to Bengaluru's crowded core.
While the plan is still in its early phases, officials expect the first phase of development to be operational within the next three to five years, positioning Karnataka as a model for balanced urban expansion in India.
