A Karnataka Congress legislator ordered the sealing of a well in front of his residence after an astrologer warned it was an obstacle to his prospects.
The legislator, a member of the Karnataka Congress, had a well located in front of his house sealed after consulting an astrologer who described the structure as a hindrance to his personal and political fortunes. The sealing work was carried out by local contractors early on Monday, and the well was covered with concrete and a metal grill.
Local residents said they were surprised by the unusual step but noted that the MLA had explained the decision as a precaution based on traditional beliefs. While such actions are rare, they reflect the continued influence of astrology in certain sections of Indian society, including among some public figures.
The MLA’s party has not issued an official comment, and no legal challenge has been reported. Authorities confirmed that the sealing complied with municipal regulations, as the well was not in active use.
