Chief Minister Basavaraj Shivakumar unveiled a new initiative aimed at improving infrastructure and learning outcomes in Karnataka's government schools.

Bengaluru, Karnataka – Chief Minister Basavaraj Shivakumar today announced a comprehensive programme to upgrade government schools across the state. The scheme focuses on renovating classrooms, supplying modern teaching aids, and enhancing teacher training to raise the quality of public education.

The initiative will be funded through a combination of state budget allocations and central government grants, with an initial rollout targeting 500 schools in the first year. Officials said the plan also includes digital learning tools and improved sanitation facilities to create a healthier environment for students.

Education officials expect the programme to boost enrollment and reduce dropout rates, especially in rural districts where government schools have lagged behind private institutions. The CM emphasized that quality education is a cornerstone of Karnataka's development agenda and urged community participation to ensure the project's success.

The rollout will be monitored by a dedicated task force that will report progress quarterly to the state cabinet. Stakeholders, including teachers' unions and parent groups, have been invited to provide feedback during the implementation phase.
