The Karnataka government and Italian officials are discussing joint initiatives to boost startups, artificial intelligence and deep‑technology projects.

Bengaluru, Karnataka – Officials from the Karnataka state administration and a delegation from Italy met this week to explore avenues for cooperation in the startup ecosystem, artificial intelligence and deep‑technology sectors. Both sides expressed a shared interest in leveraging each other's strengths to accelerate innovation and attract investment.

The talks are expected to culminate in formal agreements that could include joint research programmes, technology transfer, and support for incubators and accelerators. Karnataka aims to position itself as a hub for cutting‑edge technologies, while Italy seeks to tap into the Indian market’s rapid growth in AI and deep‑tech startups.

Stakeholders from industry and academia were invited to contribute ideas on how the partnership can be structured, with an emphasis on creating pathways for startups to access funding, mentorship and international markets. The discussions also highlighted the potential for collaborative projects in areas such as robotics, quantum computing and sustainable technologies.

If concluded successfully, the partnership could set a precedent for other Indian states to pursue similar collaborations with European nations, further integrating India’s tech ecosystem with global innovation networks.
