Kaprada and Valsad in Gujarat have registered a record 5.5 inches of rainfall, the highest in recent months. Meteorological officials noted that the downpour began in the early hours and intensified as the night progressed.
The heavy precipitation has caused localized flooding in low‑lying areas, prompting authorities to issue flood warnings and advise residents to stay alert. Roads in several villages have become waterlogged, and some schools have temporarily closed.
Meanwhile, the adjoining cities of Ahmedabad, Vadodara and Navsari experienced continuous showers overnight, with rainfall amounts ranging between 2 to 3 inches. The sustained rainfall is expected to continue for the next 24 hours, according to the Gujarat Meteorological Department.
