Kanak News Odisha reported widespread confusion over the date of Diwali on 7 November 2026, prompting residents to seek clarification from local authorities.
Kanak News Odisha aired a segment on 7 November 2026 highlighting a growing confusion among the public regarding the date of the Hindu festival Diwali. The report noted that many residents were uncertain about when to celebrate, leading to a surge in inquiries to local civic offices.
The confusion appears to stem from a miscommunication about the lunar calendar calculations that determine Diwali’s exact date each year. While the festival traditionally falls in late October or early November, the lack of a clear announcement has left people unsure.
Local authorities have responded by urging the public to wait for an official confirmation from the state’s cultural department. They have also encouraged residents to check the official government website and trusted news outlets for the definitive date.
The incident has sparked discussions on social media, with several community groups calling for clearer communication from the government regarding festival dates.
Despite the uncertainty, most people remain hopeful that the correct date will be announced soon, allowing them to prepare for the celebrations as usual.
