The Kalyani Mounted Gun System has successfully completed desert trials at Pokhran and is set for a high‑altitude evaluation in Sikkim.

The Kalyani Mounted Gun System, a new weapon platform developed by the Indian defence firm Kalyani, has cleared the rigorous desert trials conducted at the Pokhran testing range. The trials assessed the system’s performance under extreme heat, sand, and dust conditions typical of the desert environment. Following this success, the team plans to conduct a high‑altitude evaluation in Sikkim, where the system will be tested in mountainous terrain and colder temperatures.

The Pokhran trials are a standard benchmark for new defence equipment, ensuring reliability in harsh conditions before deployment. The upcoming Sikkim tests will examine the gun’s mobility, accuracy, and operational readiness at elevations that pose additional logistical challenges.

Kalyani officials have stated that the system’s performance in both environments will inform final production decisions and potential deployment to Indian armed forces units that operate in diverse terrains.
