The Supreme Court Collegium has approved Justice Mishra’s appointment as Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, effective from next week.
The Supreme Court Collegium cleared Justice R. Mishra for the post of Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court on Tuesday, following a unanimous recommendation by the Collegium’s senior members.
Justice Mishra, who has served as a judge of the Delhi High Court for the past eight years, will take over the reins from the retiring Chief Justice S. K. Sharma. The decision is expected to take effect from 15 September, as per the official notification.
The appointment underscores the Supreme Court’s emphasis on maintaining a balanced and experienced judiciary across the country’s high courts. It also reflects the Collegium’s confidence in Justice Mishra’s track record of delivering timely judgments and his administrative acumen.
