A video review of the last over in an Under‑19 T20 match revealed a run that was not recorded, prompting the Jharkhand State Cricket Association to lodge a formal complaint with the BCCI.
A video replay of the concluding over of an Under‑19 Twenty20 fixture highlighted a scoring discrepancy – a run that was not added to the official tally. The oversight was identified during the post‑match review process, which is routinely used to verify critical moments.
The Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) responded by submitting a written grievance to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). In its complaint, JSCA argued that the omitted run could affect the match outcome and that the official scorecard must be corrected to reflect the accurate result.
JSCA’s action underscores the importance placed on precise record‑keeping in junior cricket, where tournament standings and player statistics often hinge on single‑run margins. The association has asked the BCCI to investigate the incident and amend the official records accordingly.
The BCCI has yet to comment publicly, but standard protocol involves a review by its match officials committee, which may issue a corrected scorecard if the claim is substantiated. The incident comes as the U19 T20 competition progresses toward its knockout stage, heightening scrutiny over every match decision.
Stakeholders, including team coaches and selectors, are watching the development closely, noting that any alteration to the score could influence team rankings and future player selections for higher‑level squads.
