Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in Surajgarh arrested Jodhpur electricity board senior official Sudhir Chalana after catching him accepting a Rs 10,000 bribe to issue an SCO for a solar connection under the PM’s Surya Ghar scheme.
Surajgarh, Rajasthan – The Anti‑Corruption Bureau (ACB) conducted a raid in Surajgarh and apprehended Sudhir Chalana, a senior official of the Jodhpur electricity distribution company. He was caught accepting a cash payment of Rs 10,000 in exchange for issuing a Service Connection Order (SCO) for a solar connection under the Prime Minister’s Surya Ghar scheme.
According to the ACB, the bribe was offered to facilitate the issuance of the SCO, which is required for households to receive solar power installations under the government’s subsidy programme. The officials involved were identified through a preliminary enquiry, after which the ACB executed the operation and placed the accused under custody.
The investigation remains ongoing, with the ACB stating that further inquiries will determine whether additional personnel or entities were complicit. No other arrests have been reported at this stage.
The Surya Ghar scheme, launched to promote renewable energy adoption in rural and semi‑urban areas, continues to process applications, while authorities emphasize that corruption will be dealt with strictly.
