The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has opened a consultation process to design and introduce new vocational courses across the state's schools.
The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) announced the commencement of a statewide consultation to develop new vocational courses for school students. The initiative aims to broaden the curriculum beyond traditional academic subjects and provide practical skill training that aligns with emerging employment opportunities.
JKBOSE said it will invite feedback from teachers, industry representatives, vocational training institutes and other stakeholders over the coming weeks. Written submissions and virtual meetings will be used to gather suggestions on course content, duration, assessment methods and resource requirements.
The board expects the proposed courses to be ready for inclusion in the next academic cycle, with a phased rollout across government and private schools. By integrating skill‑oriented programmes, JKBOSE hopes to enhance student employability and support the state's broader objectives under the National Skill Development Mission.
The consultation process will be overseen by a committee of education officials and experts, which will compile the inputs and present a final curriculum draft to the board for approval before implementation.
