The Jammu and Kashmir Staff Association has appealed to the Lieutenant Governor for intervention over the age criteria set for J&K Bank’s recruitment, calling it unfair to prospective candidates.
The Jammu and Kashmir Staff Association (JKSA) has formally written to the Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory, seeking his intervention in a dispute over the age limit applied to recent recruitment drives at J&K Bank. The association argues that the current age ceiling excludes a significant number of qualified applicants and contravenes the principles of equal opportunity.
In its letter, JKSA highlighted specific instances where candidates meeting all other eligibility criteria were disqualified solely because they fell outside the prescribed age bracket. The association contended that the policy not only hampers the bank’s talent pool but also raises concerns about transparency in the hiring process.
The Lieutenant Governor’s office has acknowledged receipt of the request, but no official response has been issued yet. JKSA has indicated that it will consider further action, including possible legal recourse, if the matter is not addressed promptly.
The issue comes at a time when J&K Bank is planning to fill several vacancies across its branches, making the resolution of the age‑limit controversy crucial for both the institution and job‑seekers in the region.
