J&K Schools Extend Holidays to July 26 Amid Heavy Rain

✍️ India Today 🗓 22 Jul 2026, 09:03 PM 👁 1

The Jammu & Kashmir government has extended school holidays until July 26 as heavy rains continue to disrupt the region.

The Jammu & Kashmir government announced that all schools in the state will remain closed until July 26, following a series of heavy rainfall events that have affected the region.

The decision comes after continuous downpours have caused flooding and road blockages in several districts, making travel unsafe for students and teachers. Authorities cited the risk of landslides and damaged infrastructure as key reasons for the extension.

Students and parents have been advised to use the additional break for rest and to stay updated on any further changes. The Education Department has urged schools to prepare for a smooth transition back to classes once weather conditions improve.

The government will monitor the situation closely and will issue further guidance if necessary.
