J&K Post Offices Link Exporters and Artisans to Global Markets

The Chief Postmaster General of Jammu and Kashmir announced that the region’s post offices are now facilitating exporters and craftsmen to access international markets through enhanced logistics and e‑commerce services.
Jammu and Kashmir’s Chief Postmaster General said the postal network is being leveraged to help local exporters and artisans reach buyers overseas. The statement highlighted new tie‑ups with courier partners and the introduction of a dedicated e‑commerce portal that allows small‑scale producers to list their products for global customers.
The initiative includes streamlined customs documentation, subsidised freight rates and training workshops on packaging standards. Post offices across the valley will act as collection points, enabling creators to ship goods without needing private logistics firms.
Officials expect the programme to boost the state’s export value and create additional income streams for rural craftsmen. Early pilots in Srinagar and Pulwama have already recorded a rise in overseas orders, according to the postal department’s data.
The move aligns with the central government’s push to digitise traditional trade channels and integrate India’s vast informal sector into formal export frameworks.
