The Jammu and Kashmir assembly was informed that Accredited Social Health Activists will receive a guaranteed monthly allowance of Rs 3,000.
The state government has approved a fixed monthly incentive of Rs 3,000 for Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA) operating across Jammu and Kashmir, as disclosed in a recent assembly session.
The allowance is intended to strengthen the frontline health workforce, improve retention and motivate ASHA workers who deliver essential maternal and child health services in remote villages.
Officials said the amount will be transferred directly to the workers through existing payment channels from next month and will be reviewed periodically.
The decision follows long‑standing demands from health unions and ASHA representatives for better financial recognition, especially after the pandemic increased their workload.
Authorities expect the added support to boost outreach, immunisation coverage and health education throughout the region.
