The Jammu & Kashmir administration has released a grant‑in‑aid of Rs 15.20 lakh to support the functioning of AYUSH boards in the union territory.

The Jammu & Kashmir government announced the disbursement of a Rs 15.20 lakh grant‑in‑aid aimed at strengthening the AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy) boards operating in the region. The funds are intended to cover administrative expenses, capacity‑building programmes and the procurement of essential resources for the boards.

State officials said the allocation reflects the administration's commitment to promoting traditional Indian systems of medicine and integrating them with mainstream health services. The grant will be transferred to the respective AYUSH board accounts within the next few days, and a detailed utilization plan will be monitored by the health department.

The move follows similar financial support extended by other state governments to AYUSH institutions, underscoring a broader national emphasis on alternative healthcare pathways.

Stakeholders, including practitioners and educators associated with the AYUSH boards, welcomed the financial boost, noting that it will help address long‑standing infrastructure gaps and enhance training programmes for future practitioners.

The health ministry will review the impact of the grant in its upcoming quarterly report, ensuring that the funds are used effectively to improve public health outcomes in Jammu & Kashmir.
