The chief minister’s adviser has appealed to travellers from South Indian states to visit Kashmir, highlighting its natural beauty and cultural heritage.
An advisor to the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir has publicly invited tourists from the southern states of India to explore the valley, emphasizing its scenic landscapes, historic sites and hospitality.
The invitation was part of a broader tourism promotion effort aimed at diversifying the visitor base beyond the traditional North‑Indian and international markets. Officials highlighted attractions such as the Dal Lake, Mughal gardens, and adventure sports opportunities.
Tourism department officials said the outreach could boost off‑season footfall and generate economic benefits for local communities, while also fostering cultural exchange between the regions.
The advisory note, circulated through local media outlets, did not specify a timeline but urged travel agencies to design packages tailored for South Indian preferences.
If the response is positive, the state expects a gradual increase in bookings for the upcoming winter season, aligning with its goal to position Kashmir as a year‑round destination.
