Fast bowler Kumar Kushagra has been selected for the Indian cricket squad, a milestone that is inspiring young cricketers in Jharkhand.
Kumar Kushagra, a right‑arm fast bowler from Jharkhand, was named in the latest India squad announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The selection follows his impressive performances in domestic tournaments, where he consistently topped the pace attack for his state side.
The call‑up marks the first time the 22‑year‑old has been included in a senior national camp, and it has been hailed as a breakthrough for a region that has produced few fast‑bowling talents in recent years.
Local coaches and aspiring cricketers in Jharkhand have welcomed the news, saying Kushagra’s rise demonstrates that players from the state can reach the highest level with hard work and proper support.
The BCCI’s announcement did not disclose the specific series for which Kushagra will be available, but his inclusion adds depth to India’s pace options ahead of the upcoming international fixtures.
Stakeholders in Jharkhand’s cricket ecosystem view the development as a catalyst for increased investment in grassroots training and infrastructure, hoping more youngsters will follow his path.
