The Jharkhand government will use 150 drones to monitor and curb the illegal liquor market, aiming to strengthen enforcement in the state.

Jharkhand's state administration announced a plan to deploy a fleet of 150 unmanned aerial vehicles to tackle the illicit liquor trade that has been proliferating across the region. The drones will be equipped with surveillance capabilities to monitor known hotspots and transport routes used by illegal distillers and smugglers.

Authorities intend to integrate the aerial data with ground‑level enforcement teams, allowing rapid response to violations and better evidence collection. The initiative is part of a broader effort to curb unlicensed alcohol production, which poses health risks and deprives the state of revenue.

The deployment is expected to begin in the coming weeks, with the drones operating under the supervision of the state police and related enforcement agencies. Officials said the technology‑driven approach will enhance visibility in remote and forested areas where traditional patrols face challenges.
