Eight individuals in Jharkhand have been confirmed positive for H1N1 influenza, prompting the state health department to raise an alert and urge heightened vigilance, especially for the elderly and children.
The Jharkhand health department announced that laboratory tests have identified eight confirmed cases of H1N1 influenza in the state. The cases were detected through routine screening of patients presenting with flu‑like symptoms at designated facilities.
In response, officials have issued an alert urging hospitals, clinics and the public to remain vigilant. The department highlighted that both RIMS (Regional Institute of Medical Sciences) and MGM hospitals are equipped to conduct diagnostic testing for H1N1 as well as the related H3N2 strain.
Authorities are monitoring individuals with respiratory complaints and have asked healthcare workers to report any suspected cases promptly. Special attention is being directed toward vulnerable groups, including senior citizens and young children, who are at higher risk of severe illness.
The health ministry reiterated that early detection, isolation of cases and adherence to preventive measures such as hand hygiene and respiratory etiquette remain critical to contain any potential outbreak.
