Jharkhand's cricket board has adopted a team-first approach in its quest to win the Ranji Trophy, moving away from reliance on individual stars.
Jharkhand’s bid for the Ranji Trophy has taken a new direction, with the state’s cricket board prioritising collective effort over individual brilliance. The decision follows a series of disappointing campaigns where star performers could not carry the team to the title.
In a statement released earlier this week, the board’s chief executive highlighted the need for a cohesive unit, citing the importance of shared responsibilities and mutual support on the field. "Our focus is now on building a resilient team that can perform consistently, regardless of individual form," he said.
The strategy involves rotating the playing XI to give more players exposure, enhancing team drills in practice sessions, and fostering a culture where every member feels accountable for the outcome. Coaches have also introduced mental conditioning programs aimed at strengthening group dynamics.
Analysts predict that if Jharkhand can maintain this team-centric approach, it could break the cycle of near misses and finally lift the coveted Ranji Trophy trophy. The upcoming fixtures will test the new philosophy, with expectations high among fans and stakeholders alike.
