The state government has launched a two‑week door‑to‑door drive to locate and register citizens eligible to vote ahead of upcoming elections.

Jharkhand's Election Commission announced the start of a 12‑day door‑to‑door operation aimed at identifying residents who meet the criteria to vote. The initiative, launched on [date], comes as the state prepares for the next legislative assembly polls.

Field teams comprising election officials and volunteers will visit households across urban and rural districts, recording eligible adults and updating the electoral roll in real time. The drive is scheduled to run for twelve consecutive days, covering all 24 districts of the state.

Officials say the exercise is intended to improve the accuracy of the voter list, reduce duplicate entries and ensure that first‑time voters are not missed. A more comprehensive roll is expected to facilitate smoother polling and strengthen the democratic process when elections are held later this year.

The Election Commission has urged citizens to cooperate with the teams and provide necessary documents such as age proof and address proof. The updated roll will be made publicly available on the commission's website once the verification phase is completed.
