Jharkhand has revised its School Management Committee guidelines, making the size of the committee proportional to student enrolment.
Jharkhand’s education department has issued new guidelines for School Management Committees (SMCs), linking the number of committee members to the enrolment figures of each school. The amendment, announced in a press release, replaces the previous fixed‑size model with a flexible structure that will vary according to the number of students enrolled.
Under the revised rules, schools will be required to calculate their committee size based on enrolment data, though the specific thresholds for different ranges of student numbers have not yet been published. The change aims to ensure that larger schools have proportionally more representation, while smaller institutions maintain manageable committee sizes.
