The government has officially renamed Jewar Airport in Uttar Pradesh as Narendra Modi Airport, a move announced ahead of the 2027 state elections.

The Uttar Pradesh government has formally renamed Jewar Airport to Narendra Modi Airport, a decision announced in a press release earlier today. The change is intended to honor the sitting Prime Minister and is timed to coincide with the upcoming 2027 state elections.
The new name will appear on all official documents, signage, and digital platforms associated with the airport. Officials say the renaming reflects the airport’s significance as a major aviation hub for the region.
Jewar Airport, located about 50 kilometres from Agra, is set to become the state’s primary international gateway once fully operational. The renaming is expected to boost the airport’s profile and attract further investment.
A government spokesperson stated that the decision was made after consultations with local authorities and that it aligns with the state’s development strategy. No changes to the airport’s operational status are anticipated as a result of the renaming.
