The Janata Dal (United) has terminated the membership of Bihar legislator Anant Singh, citing his backing of a rival candidate and public remarks against senior party leaders.
The Janata Dal (United) announced the expulsion of Bihar MLA Anant Singh after a disciplinary review. The party’s statement said Singh’s conduct violated JDU’s code of conduct and warranted immediate action.
According to the notice, Singh had openly supported a rival candidate in the lead‑up to the upcoming elections, a move the party described as “undermining the collective strategy.” He also made public comments that were critical of senior JDU leaders, which the party said amounted to disrespect and factionalism.
JDU’s disciplinary committee concluded that such behavior threatened party unity and discipline, and therefore recommended his removal. The decision was approved by the state leadership, and Singh’s party membership was terminated.
No official response from Singh was recorded at the time of the announcement. The expulsion adds another layer of tension within the party as it prepares for the next electoral contest.
