Jat Sabhas have issued a warning that they may block a major highway if demands related to the Punjabi Language Morcha are not met, as the movement enters its ninth day.
Jat Sabhas, a coalition of Jat community groups, announced today that it would consider blocking a key highway if its demands linked to the ongoing Punjabi Language Morcha are not addressed.
The announcement comes as the language movement, which began last month, has entered its ninth day of rallies and protests across Punjab. The Morcha seeks greater recognition and support for Punjabi in educational and administrative contexts.
Officials warn that a highway blockade could disrupt traffic and commerce in the region, potentially affecting commuters and businesses that rely on the route.
The state government has called for dialogue, stating it is open to negotiations but also emphasizing the need to maintain public order and ensure uninterrupted transport links.
