The Election Commission of Jammu & Kashmir announced a two‑day voter enrolment drive on October 10 and 11 to update the electoral roll ahead of upcoming polls.
The Election Commission of Jammu & Kashmir has scheduled a special voter enrolment drive for October 10 and 11. The two‑day operation aims to refresh the electoral roll ahead of the next state and parliamentary elections, ensuring that all eligible citizens are captured in the database.
Mobile registration units and fixed centres will be set up across all districts, with officials urging young adults, first‑time voters and those who have changed addresses to register. The drive will operate from early morning until evening, and staff will verify identity documents such as Aadhaar, passport or voter ID.
Authorities said the initiative is part of a broader effort to boost voter participation and reduce discrepancies in the roll. Residents have been asked to bring valid proof of residence and age to facilitate smooth registration. No further details on the number of expected registrations were released.
