The Election Commission of India has announced special voter enrolment camps across Jammu and Kashmir on October 24 to boost the electoral roll ahead of upcoming elections.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) issued a notice that special voter enrolment camps will be set up across Jammu and Kashmir on October 24. The initiative aims to increase the number of registered voters ahead of the next scheduled state and parliamentary elections.
The camps will be managed by district election officers and will operate in accessible public venues such as community halls and schools. Eligible residents, including those who have recently shifted residence or turned 18, are invited to present valid identity documents to complete the enrolment process.
Officials highlighted that an updated electoral roll is crucial for ensuring inclusive participation and reducing discrepancies in voter lists. The move follows a broader push by the ECI to strengthen democratic processes in the region.
Citizens are urged to take advantage of the one‑day enrolment drive, which is expected to run from morning until evening, with provisions for assistance in remote areas through mobile teams.
