The Ministry of AYUSH confirmed that Jammu & Kashmir hosts three recognised Unani undergraduate colleges and a single postgraduate institute, underscoring the region's growing focus on traditional medicine education.
The Ministry of AYUSH has officially recognised three undergraduate Unani colleges and one postgraduate institute in Jammu & Kashmir.
These institutions offer BUMS (Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery) and MUMS (Master of Unani Medicine and Surgery) programmes, aligning with national curriculum standards.
The recognition follows a comprehensive review of the colleges’ infrastructure, faculty credentials and academic outcomes, ensuring they meet the Ministry’s quality benchmarks.
