All-round pacer Auqib Nabi from Jammu & Kashmir has been included in India's One Day International squad ahead of the opening match of the New Zealand tour.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has added Jammu & Kashmir fast‑bowler Auqib Nabi to the 15‑member squad that will travel to New Zealand for the upcoming One Day International series. The selection was announced as the team prepares for the first ODI, scheduled to begin later this week.
Nabi, a right‑arm pacer who has been a regular feature for Jammu & Kashmir in the Ranji Trophy, earned the call‑up after a string of impressive performances in domestic cricket. His ability to generate pace and swing has drawn attention from national selectors, marking a significant milestone for a player from the northern state.
The inclusion expands India's pace options ahead of a series that will test the bowlers on New Zealand’s seam‑friendly tracks. While Nabi has yet to make his international debut, the squad management indicated that his skill set could be valuable in the early phases of the tour.
India will face New Zealand in a three‑match ODI series, with the first game set to be played at a venue in Auckland. Nabi will join senior bowlers in the camp, aiming to translate his domestic form onto the global stage.
