The Jammu & Kashmir government has disclosed a legislative overhaul that will see 23 existing statutes amended. The move also includes the repeal of two Acts that officials describe as having outlived their usefulness and lacking any present applicability.
According to the statement released by the state administration, the amendments aim to modernise the legal framework and remove redundancies that have accumulated over years of governance. The two Acts slated for repeal were identified after a review that found them irrelevant to current administrative and socio‑economic conditions.
The government said the changes will be tabled in the upcoming session of the legislative assembly, after which they will be debated and voted upon. Officials indicated that the revisions are part of a broader effort to streamline state laws and improve regulatory efficiency.
