The Ministry of Agriculture has announced a modest increase in the state's cultivable area, now standing at 10.97 lakh hectares.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare released data indicating that the total cultivable land in Jammu and Kashmir has risen to 10.97 lakh hectares, a marginal increase from the previous assessment. The figure reflects a slight expansion of arable areas across the union territory.
Officials noted that the change is attributable to improved land reclamation and better land use practices adopted by farmers in recent years. While the increase is modest, it is considered a positive sign for the region’s agricultural productivity.
