Jammu & Kashmir CM Omar Abdullah to File Resolution for Immediate Statehood Restoration

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has declared that he will move a resolution to the Indian Parliament seeking the immediate restoration of Jammu & Kashmir’s full statehood status. The resolution, which will be tabled in the Lok Sabha, will demand the reinstatement of the provisions that were removed under the abrogation of Article 370. Abdullah stated that the move aims to address the concerns of the people of the Union Territory and to restore the special status that had been granted to the region. He added that the resolution would be presented as a formal request for the central government to reconsider the current constitutional arrangement.

Abdullah’s announcement comes amid growing political pressure for a return to the former statehood framework.
