Jammu and Kashmir authorities have bolstered security across the state in preparation for the 80th Independence Day celebrations.
Jammu and Kashmir has intensified security measures across the state in anticipation of the 80th Independence Day celebrations on August 15, 2024. Police and paramilitary forces have increased patrols in key areas, including Srinagar, Jammu, and the Kashmir Valley, and have set up additional checkpoints.
The state’s Home Department announced that a joint operation involving the Jammu and Kashmir Police, the Central Reserve Police Force, and the Border Security Force would be conducted to monitor public gatherings and prevent any potential unrest. Surveillance drones and CCTV cameras have been deployed in major cities to enhance real‑time monitoring.
In a statement, Home Minister Manoj Sinha said the heightened security was a precautionary step to ensure the safety of citizens and to uphold the integrity of the celebrations. He also assured that the measures would not disrupt normal life.
