Punjab’s Jalandhar police, as part of a crackdown on illicit liquor and illegal hookah operations, seized cash worth Rs 10.71 million, confiscated unlawful alcohol and a prohibited hookah, and arrested a suspect.
Jalandhar police commissionerate intensified its anti‑illicit liquor drive this week, targeting unlicensed sale of alcohol and related contraband. During a coordinated raid in the city, officers uncovered a cache of illegal spirits and a prohibited hookah unit.
The operation yielded cash amounting to Rs 10.71 lakh, which authorities say was intended to fund the unlawful trade. All seized items, including the liquor bottles and the hookah, were recorded as evidence.
Police also detained a male individual suspected of orchestrating the sale. The suspect was taken into custody for further questioning, and the case is being forwarded to the district crime branch for detailed investigation.
