Jalandhar, Punjab – Law‑enforcement agencies launched a large‑scale anti‑narcotics drive on Tuesday, conducting simultaneous raids at 17 identified hotspots across the city. The operation, dubbed “Kaso”, was aimed at dismantling local drug‑trafficking networks that police say have been proliferating in the region.
Officials from the Punjab Police’s narcotics control unit disclosed that the coordinated sweeps involved teams from the city’s crime branch, special task force and local police stations. While the exact quantity of seized contraband has not been released, authorities confirmed that a range of illegal substances and related paraphernalia were confiscated during the raids.
A senior police spokesperson emphasized that the crackdown is part of an ongoing strategy to curb the supply of narcotics in Punjab. The spokesperson added that investigations will continue to identify and apprehend additional individuals involved in the trade, and that the police remain committed to safeguarding the community from drug‑related harm.
