Several sweet shop owners in Jaipur have decided to stop using food delivery platform Zomato, citing high commission fees and mandatory discount demands as unethical business practices. They say the arrangement threatens their profitability.

Jaipur-based sweet shop owners have collectively opted out of listing their products on the Zomato food delivery platform. The decision comes after repeated disagreements over the commission rates charged by the platform for each order placed through its service.

The traders argue that the commission percentages, combined with Zomato’s insistence on offering deep discounts, erode their already thin profit margins. They describe these conditions as unethical and unsustainable for small businesses.

Many shop owners said they will continue to serve customers through their own outlets and local phone orders, exploring alternative delivery options that impose lower fees. They urged other food vendors to reconsider similar partnerships that prioritize platform profits over merchant viability.
