Jaipur police recovered counterfeit currency worth ₹3.45 lakh in Bhattabasti and detained suspect Shahbaz Khan, who had planned to flood the market with fake notes during Diwali.

Jaipur police carried out a raid in the Bhattabasti neighbourhood as the city prepared for Diwali celebrations. The operation targeted a suspected counterfeit currency network that was poised to introduce fake notes into local markets.

Officers seized counterfeit banknotes amounting to ₹3,45,000 and arrested a man identified as Shahbaz Khan. According to the police, Khan had travelled from Old Delhi with the counterfeit notes, intending to distribute them during the festive shopping rush.

The police spokesperson said the swift action prevented the circulation of fake currency that could have affected merchants and consumers alike. Investigators are continuing to trace the source of the counterfeit notes and will pursue any further links to organized crime.
